Upcoming queer rapper Keanan has dropped a new retro-inspired summer anthem, ‘Butterscotch’, that sees him confidently lean into a new sound.
The funk-pop track is a departure from his more bass-heavy singles, such as ‘Country Boy’ and ‘Mine’. ‘Butterscotch’ sees Keanan put his unique spin on the funk revival, bringing his playful rapping over a bouncy baseline and groovy horns.
The upcoming rapper explores self-confidence, using smooth wordplay to simultaneously reassure his audience and recognise his own worth.
Keanan manages a track that is both cheeky and empowering, while keeping his personality at the forefront. The Cheltenham-born artist is one of just four unsigned artists selected for the Coca-Cola and GAY TIMES “Breakthrough” campaign.
