A doctor has issued a warning for those returning from holiday and needing to unpack their luggage. Dr Jason Singh, a physician based in Virginia, USA, regularly imparts health, medical and wellness advice on social media.
This time, however, he's armed with a cautionary tale for holidaymakers. In a video posted to his TikTok page in June, Dr Jason advises people against unpacking holiday clothes immediately upon returning home, reports the Mirror. He explains that travellers could inadvertently bring back bed bugs, and unpacking clothes could risk infesting your home.
He stated: "So here's why you should never unpack your suitcase right after coming home from a vacation. Okay so hear me out, especially if you stayed in a hotel, and that's because of bed bugs." "Bed bug eggs typically hatch within six to ten days, and the nymphs require a blood meal shortly after hatching to continue their development.
Now, if your suitcase remains clothes and undisturbed for at least two weeks, well, any bed bug egg or nymph present will likely die due to starvation or desiccation."So now you have a reason to be lazy just like me and just let your suitcase hang there in the side.
