Gareth Gates reveals bullying hell as he's 'abused' by three women on luxury cruise ship
Gareth Gates has been targeted by mean-spirited passengers on a Caribbean ocean liner. The 39-year-old, who famously suffers from a speech impediment, revealed as much in a defiant Instagram video, telling the camera from his own personal balcony: "Hey, hope you are well.
I'm out in the Caribbean at the minute working on a cruise ship. I wanted to share something that happened to me yesterday, purely to try and raise awareness. "Three days ago, myself and my partner were leaving our cabin on the ship and our next door neighbour saw that it was me and ever since then, every time we've been out on our balcony and they've obviously heard that we've been there, it's just been constant verbal abuse." Apparently, his abusers thought it funny to recite the chorus of David Bowie's classic tune Changes, which goes: 'Ch-ch-changes!
Turn and face the strain, ch-ch-changes!' as a way of mocking the singer's stutter. "Then it's progressed onto 'G-G-Gareth Gates' and it's just got worse and worse," Gareth continued to explain. "You know, I'm more than used to this, I can handle it.
At first I was like, no no, let's just leave it. But three days is relentless. It was three girls in that cabin, the same age as my mum actually and if it had been three men I'd have headed round there myself and gone, 'Look is there an issue?', but I could hardly head round there myself as it's three women." In the end, his girlfriend Allana Taylor grew tired of the constant jibes and knocked on their door herself. "She went round and politely asked them to stop.
