The country’s parliament and senate overwhelmingly passed the marriage equality law last June. It then went to the King for signing.
This process takes around 180 days. The law became legal today, making Thailand the first Southeast Asian nation to allow same-sex weddings.
In Asia, Taiwan and Nepal are the only other countries that have legalized marriage equality.
