Madonna has told fans she “couldn’t be more grateful” for their support in her first statement since news of her hospitalisation broke.

The 64-year-old said she is “on the road to recovery” in a heartfelt message posted to Instagram on 10 July. “My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children,” the Queen of Pop wrote. “My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. “I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show.

I hate to disappoint anyone.” Madonna added that her focus now is on her “health and getting stronger”.
