Disney reportedly cut Captain Marvel and Valkyrie’s romance from The Marvels. Spoilers ahead Over the last few years, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) has been hailed as a “queer icon” after the release of her 2019 self-titled solo adventure, which featured subtle queer undertones between her character and her best friend, Marie Lambeau, (Lashana Lynch).
In addition to Larson’s character, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie has also been embraced by queer viewers after her bisexuality was confirmed in a cut scene in Thor: Ragnarok.
Since their introduction into the MCU, fans have shipped the two mighty heroes as a couple. Larson and Thompson have also supported the idea, with the former tweeting a fan sketch of the characters alongside the caption, “We cute”, to which Thompson responded: “WHAT.
We so cute.” Thompson later said:” I just love the idea of more women Marvel characters getting to intersect. I just think it’s so cool and it’s time and why not?” With the demand at an all-time high, fans were excited to find out that the recently released Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, included a cameo from the New Asgard leader.
