BY LIOR HALABI | I went back to Israel, my birthplace, to be with family and walked into a nightmare. The ruthless slaughter of over 1,200 Israelis by the Hamas terror group left an indelible mark that intertwines with my decade-long journey as an LGBTQ activist.
Being face-to-face with such brutal conflict brings up a lot of feelings and makes me think hard about the tough position of fighting for human rights while surrounded by suffering and war.
We must stand up for our freedom, across every country, echoing as a desperate call among the pain and chaos flooding Israel.
I won’t travel to Arabic or anti-LGBTQ countries like Jamaica or Lebanon, and not a penny of my money earned as a gay activist will go to them.
