Rep. Nancy Mace, R-SC, announced she would introduce a resolution blocking transgender women from accessing women’s restrooms in the U.S.
Capitol. Mace was clear that she was introducing the resolution in reaction to the election of Sarah McBride to the U.S. House of Representatives.
But the resolution doesn’t just apply to McBride. Trans women who are congressional employees would also be included in the bathroom ban. “Sarah McBride doesn’t get a say.
I mean, this is a biological man,” Mace said. McBride responded on X, “Every day Americans go to work with people who have life journeys different than their own and engage with them respectfully, I hope members of Congress can muster that same kindness.” Mace persisted and told reporters, “This is a biological man trying to force himself into women’s spaces, and I’m not going to tolerate it.” Mace said she hopes her resolution will be included in the House rules for the next session. — David Taffet
