Pop-rap superstar Lil Nas X is set to release an unscripted project about his music journey. On 18 August, the Grammy winner surprised fans when he announced his first-ever documentary Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero.
The film – which is co-directed by Academy Award nominee Carlos López Estrada and award-winning filmmaker Zac Manuel – is set to shine an intimate light on LNX’s personal and private life as he navigates his popular concert tour.
The synopsis reads: “Shot over the course of 60 days with unparalleled access, the film follows Montero Hill, a.k.a. Lil Nas X, on an emotional odyssey through the creation and performance of the critically acclaimed “Long Live Montero” show.” In addition to the film’s announcement, the groundbreaking talent revealed that Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero will make its grand premiere during the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) – which is set to take place between 7 September and 17 September.
In a statement, TIFF’s CEO Cameron Bailey expressed his excitement over the project, describing it as a “captivating journey.” “Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero is a triumphant ode to the extraordinary power of self-expression, music and identity.
