To the Editor: Re “It’s Seven Grandkids, Mr. President,” by Maureen Dowd (column, July 9), about her sister’s letter to the president urging him to acknowledge a daughter fathered by Hunter Biden: While I completely agree with Ms.
Dowd and her sister that this little girl should be included in the Biden family, I feel the need to add one important reminder.
As the mother of an addict (thankfully in recovery, although recovery is never a smooth journey), I know that one should never tell the family of someone who has wrestled with addiction what they “should” do.
As in never, ever. Trust me, the Bidens are in pain on this and so many other issues related to their struggling, courageous, flawed son.
