A popular mural in the Gay Village depicting beloved drag queen Divina De Campo has been defaced with homophobic slurs once again.
The mural, designed by local street artist Akse, was created in 2019 to coincide with the performer’s appearance on the first series of BBC Three’s hit show RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
In 2021, the artwork, which is located on Richmond Street, was one of two pieces that were daubed with homophobic graffiti. A mural at the side of the Molly House pub containing depictions of World War II codebreaker Alan Turing and legendary Manchester drag queen Foo Foo Lammar was also targeted.
