Doctor Who has given fans another glimpse at the villain RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon will be playing in the show’s upcoming 14th season.

Alongside a brand new image of Jinkx’s character, the official Instagram page described her as “villainous chic” as it wished the star a happy birthday on 18 September. “So hyped for Jinx Monsoon, reminds me of Ursula,” one fan wrote under the post. “Should be a great villain!” Another said: “Are we adding another Time Lady to the mix?

I do regret not seeing Missy more and 13 did not get the run she should have had.” Others pointed out that Jinkx’s costume, which has piano keys printed on parts of it, could be a reference to her villain having a musical aspect to it – something which would make sense given the queen’s immense success as both a musician and actor. “Is there going to be a musical episode?” one viewer questioned. “Because that could be awesome.” “So she’s be like a Music Meister type character right?” a second added. Jinkx’s character has been described as “the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet” It was previously announced that they will portray “the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet”. “In a galaxy of comets and supernovas, here comes the biggest star of all,” showrunner Russell T Davies said when Jink’s appearance in the BBC series was first announced. “Jinkx Monsoon is on a collision course with the TARDIS, and ‘Doctor Who’ will never be the same again.” Russell was the driving force in the show’s revival in 2005, as well as spin offs such as Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

His original run on the series was met with overwhelming critical acclaim and has been widely attributed as a reason for the show’s success when it was rebooted in the 2000s, with viewers eagerly awaiting his return.
