Gemma Clare Collins (born 31 January 1981) is an English media personality and businesswoman. In 2011, she began appearing on the ITVBe reality series The Only Way Is Essex. TOWIE legend Gemma Collins has revealed that she is undergoing a potentially life-saving genetic test, to see if she carries the BRCA gene which assesses a person’s risk for developing breast cancer.
The decision came after Gemma’s mum, Joan, 67, found a cancerous lump between her breast and armpit, prompting Gemma to take her own health seriously.
Additionally, the reality star had also previously lost a female relative to the disease, and hoped that by taking the test she could have some peace of mind about her own risks of developing breast cancer.
